Testing
The Lifelong Learning Center offers a wide array of tests that are available to all active duty marines and navy personnel for free. In addition, we are available to proctor exams for universities, which is a free service that can also be utilized by family members. Below is a list of tests offered and a brief overview. To schedule a test, please submit a Testing Request Form to the Education Center a minimum of 7 days prior to day of testing.  For more information, please contact the Lifelong Learning Center at (928) 269-3589 or 269-5614.

Study guides and practice tests can be found by clicking on the Military OneSource link at right.
Once page displays:
- Click the "education" link at left.
- On the Education page, click on the "Online Library Resources" link under the "Scholarships and Other Opportunities " heading.
- You will be prompted to create a membership account when this page downloads (if you already have an existing account, simply log in).
- After logging in the Online Library Resources page will be displayed.
- Click on the Lifelong Learning icon (silhouette) under the "Education/Lifelong Learning" section.
- Login to "Petersons" to take practice tests or print out study guides.
 

ACT
The ACT Assessment test is an admissions requirement at some colleges. The instrument consists of a battery of four academic tests that measure academic development in English, Mathematics, Reading , and Science Reasoning. The Assessment provides scores on the four tests, a composite score, and seven sub scores which provide more detailed information concerning an individual's academic development. Calculators are permitted but not required.

DANTES funds one administration for eligible military service members, on either the ACT Assessment or the SAT. Study guides are available at the Lifelong Learning Center.

 
AFCT
The AFCT (Armed Forces Vocational Classification Test) is a comprehensive test that measures knowledge of science, math, vocabulary, reading, mechanics, electronics, auto mechanics, and clerical skills. This test is used by all branches of the military as a predictor of success when working in a Military Occupational Specialty (MOS). Study guides and DVD's are available at the Lifelong Learning Center.
 
CLEP
CLEP consists of a series of examinations that test an individual's college level knowledge gained through course work, independent study, cultural pursuits, travel, special interests, military service schools, and professional development. The American Council on Education (ACE) recommends the minimum score for awarding credit but each institution determines its acceptable score and the amount of credit granted for each examination. CLEP General and Subject examinations are accepted for credit by more than 2,900 colleges and universities.

DSST
DANTES Subject Standardized Tests (DSST) program is an extensive series of 37 examinations in college subject areas that are comparable to the final or end-of-course examinations in undergraduate courses. ACE recommends 3 semester hours of credit per test. The DSST are very similar to the CLEP tests except that DSSTs' are un-timed but are expected to be completed in about 90 minutes.

DLAB
The Defense Language Aptitude Battery is an 82 minute test that military services use to measure a service member's ability to learn a foreign language
 
DLPT
The DLPT (Defense Language Proficiency Test) is designed for individuals who are already fluent in a specific foreign language needed by the military.
 
Excelsior
Excelsior College Examinations are used to meet specific college degree requirements of the Excelsior College degrees and are accepted for college credit by over 900 colleges and universities. SAT
SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) scores are used as a college admission requirement and student placement instrument. The SAT is a reasoning test that consists of 10 sections that measure critical reading, mathematics, and writing. DANTES funds one administration for eligible military service members, on either the SAT or the ACT Assessment. The cost if not funded is $41.50. The Lifelong Learning Center does not schedule SAT administrations in July and August as the SAT Program shuts down their scoring system in late summer to prepare for national testing in October. TABE
The TABE (Test of Adult Basic Education) is a 90 minute multiple choice test that measures an individual's knowledge of math, reading, and language. This test is used to qualify an active duty member with an ASVAB GT score of 99 or below for tuition assistance, as well as the Military Academic Skills Program (MASP).
