Are there schools on MCAS Yuma? No.

  1. All of our school-age children who live on installation attend Palmcroft Elementary School, Woodard Junior High School(Yuma One Elementary School District), and Kofa High School(Yuma High School Union District). 
  2. School-age children who live in 16th Street Housing will attend Ronald Reegan Elementary School, Centennial Middle School in the Crane Elementary School District and Cibola High School.
  3. School-age children who live off installation attend the school they are districted to(Boundary Maps available on each districts websites).

Which school is the best attend?

  1. Each parent and child must decide which school is best for them.  This decision is best made by visiting prospective schools, researching the schools via their web page and talking to teachers, children and administrators.

If I know where I live, how can I find out which school my child will attend?

  1. You should contact the school district where you reside.  If you are not sure which school district you reside in, ask your realtor or contact the School Liaison Officer.

What information will I need to enroll my child in school?

If you are entering school mid year, we recommend you provide samples of your child’s work from your most recent school.  Also, a copy of any report cards or progress reports, current IEP, and standardized test scores if possible.  This information will help your new school determine the best placement for your child.

What are the requirements if I want to home-school my child?

  • If a parent who resides on MCAS chooses to home school their child, they are subject to both the Department of Defense Education Activity and to the Yuma County home school requirements.  Requirements include:
  • Notify the local school superintendent each year by letter that you have established a home school and report the names, ages and place of residence for the home-schooled children.
