What are the training opportunities?
Marine Corps Family Team Building provides standardized key Volunteer Training. This interesting and educational training is open to all spouses of active duty Marines, whether or not they serve as a volunteer. The training also provides an opportunity to meet other spouses who share the Marine Corps lifestyle. Training is required for those serving in the network.

The functions of KVN
n Provide a personal communication link between the CO and unit families
n Provide information on local programs/services to incoming families
n Provide information and referral, when necessary, to a variety of organizations
 
Positions within the KVN
Commanding Officer (CO)
The Command ing Officer is the military member who establishes the KVN within his/her unit and determines the directions of KVN based on the needs of the unit's families. The CO selects and appoints the unit's Family Readiness Officer (FRO), KVN Coordinator, and Key volunteers for a specific period of time.

Family Readiness Officer
An active duty member of the unit. The FRO's primary function is to serve as the point of contact, for routine matters, between the unit and the KVN. The FRO provides oversight and coordinates all family readiness issues for the CO.

Key Volunteer Advisor
The KVA, an optional position in the KVN, acts as an advocate for the KVN program and a mentor for the Key Volunteer Coordinator and Key Volunteers by providing advice.

Key Volunteer Coordinator

A spouse of a member of the unit who coordinates the work of the network and serve4s as a communication link between the CO and the Key Volunteers and provides feedback to the CO about family readiness issues.

Key Volunteer
A spouse of a member of the unit, who serves as the primary point of contact for designated families. The commands' "personal link" to its families.
