MCCS Coordinators
MCCS Coordinators act as MCCS liaison to the Area Commander. They are commited to supporting the command. They are also the leading advocate for Quality of Life programs aboard MCAS Yuma. Your MCCS Coordinators are experts on all MCCS services and activities, they assist with unit fund budget and distribution of funds for command QOL programs, and also provide assistance with planning, set-up, and execution of golf outings, tournaments, banquets, trips, and other command sponsored functions
 

Chris Hamel
MCCS Coordinator
H&HS, MWSS-371 & MACS-1

Chris Hamel recently retired after 30 years of service to the Corps. As your MCCS coordinator, he is here to help serve the needs of those who still wear the uniform. Chris has been stationed with numerous duty stations to include MCAS Yuma, MCB Camp Pendleton, I & I Duty San Jose, CA, two tours on recruiting duty as well as other Joint Army bases for training. He held billets as a recruiter, electronics technician & supervisor, administrative clerk, company First Sergeant and four different tours as a Sergeant Major. Prior to retiring, Chris served as the SgtMaj for both MAWTS-1 & H&HS.
As MCCS Coordinator for H&HS, MWSS-371 and MACS-1, Chris is here to assist in the services available to the commands and the service members he serves. It is his primary duty to be the liaison between the active duty members and all departments within MCCS. His focus is on the quality of life issues for every Marine, Sailor and their families within his commands. Some of the issues that Chris will assist you and the commands with are assuring quality of services, forwarding suggestions and ideas, reserving gear through Arizona Adventures, coordinating and assisting with facility reservations, and preparation for command functions just to name a few.

Rebecca Merrill
MCCS Coordinator
MAG-13, MAWTS-1, CLC-16, VMFT-401

Originally from Montana, Rebecca comes to MCAS Yuma with a strong background in special event programming, as well as sales and marketing.  She graduated from the University of Montana with a Bachelor of Science in Recreation Management.  Her professional career has allowed for much movement around the western US, with most time spent between Montana and Arizona.  Rebecca has held a variety of exciting positions from Community Recreation Manager at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, to Lift Maintenance Assistant at Big Sky Ski Resort, MT, to retail store management in Bozeman, MT.  After spending some time in Arizona working for the City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department, Rebecca moved to Yuma where she currently lives with her husband.

Rebecca is excited to be serving the Marines Corps as the primary liaison between MCCS and the active duty members of her designated units.  Not only will she offer information referral and event promotion for MCCS, she will also act as an advocate for the needs and suggestions of the Marines, Sailors and their families.  In addition, Rebecca works closely with the Family Readiness Officers to ensure all of the great MCCS resources are readily available to assist the Marines with improving their quality of life while aboard MCAS Yuma.
